These sessions are more informal and usually happen in your home, although I have had clients request the studio for lifestyle sessions in the past.
The shoot and informal posing focuses more on the relationship between family member and moments shared between them, rather than formal posing.
Although I do give posing guidelines, I then let the moments evolve and then capture them.
These sessions are usually 1-2 hours long and I recommend this type of session should your baby be a little older – 3 weeks+, or if the baby is very fussy and a light sleeper.
Posed sessions take place in my studio where we formally pose the baby with props and minimal added lighting.
Baby will be wrapped and posed in three different setups, which will be discussed beforehand with the parents, who will choose the preferred colours, etc.
These sessions usually take 3-4 hours, as baby usually needs to be calmed and fed between setups and poses.
what to expect
As soon as you arrive or I arrive at your house, I advise that we feed baby to make sure he is warm, content and sleepy, in order for us to start the session.
Baby leads the session and we stop when he/she needs feeding, soothing or cuddling – a lot of cuddles happen during the session.
Please don’t be alarmed if baby makes a mess, as I do take the nappy off for some if the poses. Know that I am used to this and come prepared.
Should siblings be involved in the shoot, these shot will be done first, so that they can go and play before boredom sets in.
I have done multiple courses and also have been handling newborn babies for shoots for many years.
Safety comes first.
Sometimes parents worry about a specific pose or wrapping technique, please know that I will never pose your baby in any way that is harmful or will hurt them. They do sometimes get a little uncomfortable, but this is usually which baby that are very active and want to stretch out of the wraps – this is why I advise that we do posed shoots within the first 2 weeks after baby is born.
In studio I have a kitchen, bathroom and several private areas, to make feeding and changing as easy an comfortable as possible for mom and baby.
I have a good selection of props, clothing and wraps to ensure that you get the most beautiful images of your new addition.
The studio is mostly natural light, but I do have lights available if they are ever needed.
My studio is situated in Centurion and all posed session take place there – unfortunately I do not travel with backdrops and props to your home.
